J.A.M - "Blues For My Babe" Wherever you are in America, Europe, Asia or anywhere in the world... the blues will be found. Also (and for this occasion) in Russia. The band is listening to the name J.A.M, (whatever that means), and find their pleasure in Texasblues, British bluesrock and Chicagoblues. Singer/guitarist Anatoly Mozorov is the only remaining member of the band since they started in 1988. This four piece band also exists out of Evgeny Lepihin on keyboards, Alexander Svistunov on bass, and drummer Sergei Parigin. What should be appreciated, is the fact that there are only four covers, the rest is own work, but I have to say, some of them sound very familiar to me. At the other hand you can say, these musicians have made their homework, and at quite some moments they're going hard. Solid and nice finished songs like 'Third Degree', 'Big Legged Woman' (very familiar sound) en 'Long Way From Home', makes me decide that their popularity in their fatherland isn't stolen at all. I really liked 'Early In The Morning' which is actually more a cross-over between blues, jazz en funk, musically very beautiful work. Luckily for us Europeans, they bring the songs in English language, otherwise it would be very difficult to understand. |
